What 'RWA on-chain' actually means
Tokenisation = wrapping a legal claim (a treasury bond, a square metre of an apartment, an ounce of gold, a private credit tranche) into an on-chain token that's transferable, programmable and auditable 24/7. The legal wrapper varies by jurisdiction (special-purpose vehicle, regulated trust, security token offering) but the on-chain mechanics converge.
The investible universe today
Five categories are live: (1) tokenised US treasuries (BUIDL, OUSG, USDY), (2) tokenised real estate (Realt, Lofty, RedSwan), (3) tokenised commodities (Tether Gold, PAX Gold), (4) tokenised private credit (Maple, Centrifuge, Goldfinch), (5) tokenised art / collectibles (Masterworks-on-chain, Particle).
How to participate from any wallet
Two routes: (a) KYC-permissioned (you'll need to verify identity once, then you can buy BUIDL or treasuries with USDC) or (b) permissionless wrappers (some real-estate platforms expose secondary trading on Uniswap forks). We walk through both, with screen-by-screen instructions.
Risks: don't romanticise this
Tokenisation does NOT remove counterparty risk. The asset issuer can still fail. The legal wrapper can still be challenged in court. Custody risk persists. And on-chain liquidity for RWAs is still 10-100x thinner than for top crypto pairs.
The 24-month outlook
Expect: (a) BlackRock/Fidelity to add S&P 500 tokenised exposure on Solana/Ethereum, (b) MiCA-licensed European banks to start offering tokenised UCITS funds, (c) one major emerging-market sovereign to issue debt natively on-chain.
